City of Sheridan Joins Opioid Settlement

The City of Sheridan will be a participant in a class action settlement stemming from a lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies supplying opioid drugs. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Nationwide settlements have been reached pertaining to opioid litigation brought by states and local political subdivisions against the three largest pharmaceutical distributors. City of Sheridan Clerk Cecilia Good presented the City Council with some background information on the opioid settlement.
Good said these are not class action “opt-out” settlements, they are settlements that require a critical mass of both state and local governments “opt-in” over the next six months.
Good explained the terms of the settlement.
The Council, on a vote of 5 to 1, with Councilor Kristen Jennings casting the lone no vote, authorized Mayor Rich Bridger to sign the documents to enter into the OneWyo Opioid Settlement. Sheridan County Commissioners last month approved entering into the settlement as well.
