Veterans Home Threatened with Gravel Pit

A gravel pit is currently being considered on lands located at Buffalo’s Veterans Home of Wyoming, but local government officials are hoping to block that from happening.

Johnson County Commissioner Bill Novotny.

Novotny explained they were made aware of the mineral lease when removing debris from the construction site for the water line to the new skilled nursing facility on the Veterans Home campus.

They were contacted by the company that holds the lease and told the company owns the boulders, rock and gravel.

Novotny said ultimately the fault goes back to the Office of State Lands and Investments who approved the lease.

There is a draft bill that will be presented to the Wyoming Legislature during their upcoming session to protect the Veterans Home and other sites from this type of development, and we will have more on that and how Wyoming residents can voice their opinions in the matter in an upcoming story.

This is Bill McVay. The Veterans Home of Wyoming can be Supported. As a White Elephant Corporate Home. There is McVay Enterprises possibly here in Buffalo Wyoming. Could that Contingency be Part of the Draft Bill?
