cvannoyThe 26th Annual Christmas stroll was blessed with dry, calm, warm weather on Friday night, Nov. 26. The Sheridan Christmas Stroll has been held the day after Thanksgiving for the past 25 years and is the official kick off for the Christmas season.
According to Jodie Hartley, Marketing and Communications Director at the Chamber of Commerce, “The stroll this year is a hybrid, with the stroll beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing through 8 p.m. Main Street and Grinnell Plaza will be closed from 4 to 8 p.m. and feature traditional festivities such as food and beverage giveaways, Christmas carols, and hay wagon rides.”
The winning design for the 26th Annual Sheridan Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest was submitted by Harper Jacobson, a sixth-grade student at Sheridan Junior High and daughter of Arik and Jeriann Jacobson, The committee selected the winning design based upon how well it reflects this year’s theme, “Gingerbread Stroll.
Christmas Carols were sung by the Sheridan Junior High choir, accompanied by Tony Sawyer, music and choir teacher, on the guitar. Sawyer said the youngsters are all volunteers and they enjoy coming to sing at the Christmas Stroll.
Santa and Mrs. Claus were at the WYO Theater so children could tell Santa their Christmas requests, and have their photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
As the official kick-off to the Christmas season in Sheridan, the Christmas Stroll was again a success, and the warm weather helped to bring shoppers out.
