U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming praised TerraPower and PaciCorp’s announcement Tuesday to build a nuclear reactor in Kemmerer. Lummis said Wyoming powers America, and she’s excited that advanced nuclear energy production is going to play a role in Wyoming’s energy sector and economy for years to come. Lummis added TerraPower and PacifiCorps’ decision to build their new Natrium reactor in Kemmerer is a huge boon to not only Kemmerer, but to Wyoming’s and America’s future energy independence.

The power plant will be located at the site of the Naughton coal-fired power plant in Kemmerer. The power plant, which is operated by PacifiCorp subsidiary Rocky Mountain Power is set to close in 2025. The project is anticipated to employ up to 2,000 people during construction and approximately 250 once operational.  In June, Microsoft Co-Founder and Chairman of TerraPower, Bill Gates, along with Rocky Mountain Power announced plans for the project in Wyoming. Glenrock, Gillette and Rock Springs were the other three locations that were being considered for the power plant.

Dear Ms Lummis- the majority of the funding for the project you praise is provided by the infrastructure bill you voted against despite this and many other benefits that Wyoming will get. A little late to jump on the bandwagon.

You realize that only $110 Billion goes to actual infra structure, ray, while the rest goes for things like putting devices on your vehicles so the govt can log your mileage, and tax you accordingly, big brother. Early Christmas presents for the grifters.

As usual you have to go past the headline. This is a proposed volunter program to test the feasibilty of collecting taxes in this way as opposed to the gas tax. Since I do a lot of my driving in an older 4X4 gas guzzler this would be mana from heaven for me, as for the 110 billion claim – I can’t find the rabbit hole you dove down for that one.

Finally found the right rabbit hole- congressman Good form Virginia- so waterways drinking water rail improvements broadband harbors and the power grid etc don’t count as infrastructure ? 110 billion for roads and bridges is all that counts? I don’t think so.

Senator Lummis’ hypocrisy knows no bounds. She campaigned on stymieing the Biden administration. She railed against the infrastructure bill and voted against it, even though clearly it was in Wyoming’s best interests to pass this bill. Despite her efforts Biden was successful and the bill passed. Now money is flowing to Wyoming and projects are getting started and Lummis is now trying to take credit. Typical GOP they have no ideas, no interest in helping out their constituents, and they only serve the rich.

      Your analogy is spot on.
