The Sheridan Community Land Trust is inviting the public to join them on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Whitney Center for the Arts at Sheridan College for the In Bloom fundraiser.
National Geographic Fellow Ronan Donovan uses his photography to tell stories of animals and the challenges they face in the harsh climates of the wild. Donovan will give a talk during the fundraiser, sharing his experiences of documenting the Yellowstone ecosystem, wolves of the arctic, chimpanzees of Uganda and more.
Donovan sat down with Sheridan Media and said one piece of advice he would give someone aspiring to be a field photographer is to become stronger to avoid injury, something many of his colleagues have suffered.
The evening will include a live and silent auction featuring many items and experiences, including a photography lesson for four with Ronan. In Bloom will also feature a Paddle Raise to help conserve local lands and ranches.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, SCLT Executive Director Brad Bauer spoke on the importance of conservation easements. Bauer talked about a farmer entering an agreement to preserve his land in the face of climbing debt. Bauer also spoke on the importance of preserving ranches and farms as a Wyoming identity.
The night will also feature the drawing for the winner of the Take Your Shot Raffle. That winner will receive a new Weatherby Element® Semi-Auto 12 Gauge Shotgun, which brings together the signature fit and finish of a Weatherby with “inertia-operated” action.
SCLT’s In Bloom will begin at 5 p.m. with complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. SCLT is asking those wishing to attend to please RSVP, but walk-ins are welcome. To RSVP and to purchase raffle tickets or participate in the silent auction, visit the SCLT website, here.
