Sheridan Recognized in Governor’s Arts Awards

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has announced the recipients of the 2019 Governor’s Arts Awards and Sheridan is recognized in two of the awardees. According to the Wyoming Arts Council, Sheridan Artisan and Leatherworker Jim Jackson and the Sheridan WYO Performing Arts and Education Center were among the 5 chosen to attend the dinner and awards ceremony in February. Winners were chosen based on their length of commitment to the arts, outstanding contribution or impact, breadth of support, involvement in special initiatives supporting the arts, artistic excellence/level of standards.
The Governor’s Arts Awards were established 37 years ago and recipients are selected based on their substantial contributions made in Wyoming that exemplify a long-term commitment to the arts, with special consideration given to nominees whose arts service is statewide. The Arts Council fields nominations and then sends a list of recommended winners to the Governor’s desk for final selection. Any state citizen, business, or community member is eligible for nomination.
