A fire that has been burning in the Bighorn Mountains continues into its third month of activity.
As of 8:30am on Sunday, September 19th, the Crater Ridge Fire has burned more than 7,300 acres and is 70% contained.
Recently weather activity such as high winds has allowed the fire to burn more acreage as it is moving in a south-southeast direction towards Mann Creek and Boyd Ridge Road 110.
Aviation support has been grounded due to high winds.
Command of the fire has been transferred to an incident 4 command team.
Cooler temperatures and some precipitation is expected to slow fire growth for the next few days.
The cause of the fire is suspected to be a lightning strike on or around July 17th.
