The Bighorn National Forest, Tongue Ranger District officials have released the Environmental Assessment and Draft Decision Notice for the Sheridan Municipal Watershed Project.

The project seeks to reduce fuel loading and restore aspen and riparian habitats within the municipal watershed, to reduce sedimentation resulting from potential wildfires.

The project was cooperatively developed with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Wyoming State Forestry to identify project components that would treat approximately 15,000 acres within the 74,000-acre project area.

According to a release from the BHNF, a legal notice will be published in the Casper Star Tribune on Aug. 11, 2021. This notice opens a 45-day objection period for those that previously provided comments during one of the comment periods and will include specific information on how to file an objection to the draft decision.

Documents and information are available on the Bighorn National Forest’s website, here. Contact Jon Warder at jon.warder@usda.gov or 307-674-2600 to answer any further questions.
