Ron RichterSheridan County School District Two released their COVID-19 Plan Thursday for the 2021-2022 school year. The plan has been developed in collaboration with Sheridan County Health officials and aligns with guidance from the Wyoming Department of Health. According to the School District’s plan, masks are optional in school buildings and on school grounds. Masks are also optional on route buses that transport students to and from school. Regarding quarantine/isolation guidelines, the School District will adhere to guidelines from state and local health officials. Individuals that test positive must isolate until there is no fever for at least 24 hours, without the aid of fever-reducing medication, other symptoms must improve from when they first began and at least 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms. Individuals who are close contacts with positive cases must isolate for 10 days without testing, or 7 days after receiving a negative test result. In cases where both individuals are masked, no quarantine is required. Those that are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine if exposed to a positive case.
All staff and students must self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms every day before coming to school and any staff member or student who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home. Students who test positive or who are quarantined as a close contact will be provided with remote learning opportunities by day three of the absence. Students participating in activities and athletics will be required to adhere to protocols above and beyond those in place for the remainder of district operations. Students and coaches/sponsors are required to wear masks on all activity buses and the School District will adhere to the return-to-play protocol for student-athletes who test positive for COVID-19. Visitors are currently welcome to District Two schools and events, with masks optional. The School District will follow guidelines set by the Wyoming High School Activities Association for events. Currently, there are no spectator limits in place. A copy of the plan can be viewed here.
