Charles Auzqui, who has been the superintendent of Sheridan County School District #3 in Clearmont, will become the new superintendent of Johnson County School District #1 on July 1st.

In a recent interview, Auzqui talked about his time at SCSD3 and what he hopes to accomplish at JCSD1.

Auzui explained what he is doing to ready himself and SCSD3 for the transition.

Dr. Boyd Brown was given an 11-month contract as the acting superintendent by the SCSD3 school board and will begin that position August 1st, according to Auzqui.

Auzqui’s first priority will be establishing a good relationship with the board and the stakeholders and the community, keeping the focus on kids and what’s best for them.

He feels he needs to ask questions and learn, and not to make a changes in the district until he has a better grasp on the district’s situation.

Two things he will have to deal with first will be the presentation of the budget to the board in July and hiring a new curriculum director.

Auzqui said he is excited for the new position.

Auzqui said he wants Johnson County schools to impact the rest of the state and be a model for the rest of the districts in the state.
