The Sheridan County Commission considered an application for a gravel quarry for a 15-acre property located north of Highway 336 east of Sheridan.

The application was submitted by Prairie Hills, LLC and will be leased to Wagner Ranch Services, LLC as explained by County Planner Mark Reid.

There was no comment offered during the public hearing, other than a brief presentation from Bob Wagner with Wagner Ranch Services.

The commission voted to approve the quarry with 5 conditions as recommended by the Planning & Zoning Commission.

The conditions are (1) that there be a 10-year term on the lease; (2) the 15-acre site be staked prior to any excavation; (3)no site signage except for directional signs required by the DEQ; (4) all quarry activities be prohibited within 50 feet of woody draws that parallel the site; and (5) hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5pm and Saturday from 7:30am to noon with no hours of operation on Sundays.
