SMH will close vaccination clinic at the end of the month

Sheridan Memorial Hospital will discontinue COVID-19 vaccine operations at its Vaccination Clinic at the end of the month.
The decision was one that SMH leadership discussed at length. When the clinic opened in January of this year, the mission was to aid in the administration of vaccinations to as many Sheridan County residents in the shortest amount of time possible to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Leadership now feels confident the goal has been met. With the decline in scheduled appointments and the availability of vaccines at Sheridan County Public Health and local pharmacys, staff and resources can be utilized in other areas of SMH operations.
The announcement of the closure was made during the weekly leadership briefing.
Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Addlesperger.
The Vaccination Clinic will continue taking scheduled first dose appointments until June 16, leaving time for the second dose to be administered until the end of the month.
Many local pharmacies are now administering the vaccinations free of charge and appointments are still available at Sheridan County Public Health.
