Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheridan is an organization geared toward improving the lives of children through partnering older male and female mentors, or “Bigs”, with children known as “littles”, who may otherwise not have a strong male or female presence in their life.

For many of us, as we grew up there was one person who made a difference. It can be anyone; a parent, teacher or perhaps an older sibling. Maybe they found a spark within you and put you on the path that you are on professionally. Maybe they put you back on the right path after finding you walking down the wrong one. Image what your life would be like without that one person.

Big Brothers Big Sisters wants to ensure that every child has that one person. The organization partners many children every year with members of the Sheridan community.

Arin Waddell is just one of those Bigs. A professional artist, Waddell has a family that she cares for. Waddell became a Big because she wanted to make a difference in the life of a child who may not have been given the same opportunities she had in her youth.

Waddell’s Little was reserved, shy and quiet at first. She loved art so Waddell would spend hours drawing with her, comparing work and opening conversation. A trust was developed and nurtured through art. That was three years ago. Waddell and her Little are still partnered together and now the connection will likely be lifelong.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheridan County is looking for someone committed to making a difference in the life of a child.
