Wyoming Energy Authority Announces State Energy Program Grants

The Wyoming Energy Authority’s State Energy program announced Monday the opening of its annual grant program for energy audits and retrofits for k-12 schools, small businesses and local governments. According to a media release from the Wyoming Energy Authority, in the 2021 grant cycle, the State Energy Program will provide grants to K-12 schools for lighting retrofits, to local governments for energy efficiency retrofits and to small businesses for energy audits and retrofits. The application period closes on May 28.

Grants range from $5,000 to $25,000 and have different cash matching requirements depending on the program. Recipients interested in the K-12 schools or local government grants will also receive a free energy audit.

Last month, the Wyoming Energy Authority opened applications for its new grant program for Agriculture and Rural Small Business Energy Audits. New this year, the grants are available to agricultural producers statewide, and to small businesses in rural areas looking for assistance to identify cost-effective opportunities to lower their energy usage. Grants are up to $3,000 and can be used to complete an energy audit. Grant applications are being accepted now and the program will be open until all funds are expended. In 2020, the State Energy Program was able to fund 32 projects across Wyoming. The program is funded through a formula grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. Grants operate on an annual cycle.
