Recently, Sheridan Memorial Hospital Director of Lean Transformation Dr. Lekan Ajayi and SHM Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Addlesperger gathered vaccination numbers from three major vaccine administering institutions in Sheridan County. The three institutions are SMH, Sheridan County Public Health and the VA Medical System.

These numbers represent a group of residents vaccinated at one of three separate public and government institutions, and do not represent those who may have been vaccinated at a pharmacy.

Below are a series of tables showing the amount of vaccinated residents based on age group. The first line of cells tells the age of the patients. The second line shows the amount of individuals in that age group who have received their first round of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. The third line shows the number of individuals who have either received their second dose or have opted to take the one shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Those numbers show that 236 residents between the ages of 16 – 24 have received a first dose of the vaccine and 117 residents in that age category have received their second dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or opted for the one dose vaccine offered by Johnson and Johnson from the SMH Vaccination Clinic.

These numbers are consistent with the Vaccination Priority List timeline. The SMH Vaccination Clinic opened Jan. 27, serving those in the 1a and 1b, (aged 65 + and those suffering from autoimmune deficiencies) categories of the list.

The Sheridan VA Medical System began vaccinating veterans within their long term medical care facilities as soon as Dec. 22. By mid-February, the VAMC was able to notify Sheridan region veterans enrolled in the system of any age they were eligible for a vaccine.

By the beginning of March of 2021, the Wyoming Department of Health was able to update the priority list, adding more medical conditions to the 1c category and allowing many more Sheridan County residents the opportunity to be vaccinated.

By March 31, Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon was able to announce that any Wyoming resident over the age of 16 is now eligible to receive the vaccine. Individuals who are 16 and over are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine. The Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines are available for individuals over the age of 18.
