Acting United States Attorney for Wyoming Bob Murray announced Tuesday that 53-year-old Paul Edman pled guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson to aiding or assisting in the preparation of a false document filed with the Internal Revenue Service. According to a news release from the Department of Justice, Edman is a Certified Public Account from Rock Springs that in April of 2015, willfully counseled taxpayers in the preparation of IRS form 1040 for calendar year 2014, knowing the 1040 form was false.

Edman faces up to three years in prison and fines of up to $100,000. He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 1 of this year. The case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie Sprecher.
