Ron RichterAn arraignment hearing in Fourth Judicial District Court was held this week for a 22-year-old Sheridan who is charged with multiple crimes. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
On January 2, an officer with the Sheridan Police Department while on patrol, noticed a vehicle that had been parked and running for a long period of time at the intersection of West 5th Street and Main. When the officer approached the vehicle on foot, he noticed the lone occupant was not conscious and called EMS in case of a medical emergency. After the driver of the vehicle, Kieylee Stout, regained consciousness, the officer noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia items that indicated recent heroin use.
Stout told the officer that she had taken the drug Xanax earlier in the night and that she was a heroin addict. Stout was subsequently placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. She was also later charged with Felony Taking a Controlled Substance Into Jail for attempting to smuggle Xanax into the Sheridan County Detention Center. Stout, at an arraignment hearing this week in District Court, pleaded “not guilty” to both of the charges. District Court Judge John Fenn set the two-day jury trial to begin on August 9 and scheduled a pretrial conference for July 15 at 10 am. Judge Fenn continued Stout’s bond under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court. If convicted on both counts, Stout faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and fines of more than $3,000.
