Auditions set for Young Theatre Makers Ensemble

High school-aged students interested in the theater arts will have a chance to learn more in auditions for the Young Theatre Makers Ensemble next week at the WYO Theater.

Auditions will be held starting at 5 p.m. Friday, March 19, and 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, in the Tandem Rehearsal Hall of the WYO Performing Arts & Education Center.

Erin Butler, executive director of the WYO Theater, said the Young Theatre Makers Ensemble is a new program at the WYO.

The Young Theatre Makers Ensemble is part of the theater’s WYO PLAY, a program launched in September last year to create safe and engaging environments in which life-long learners can explore the theater arts.

Starting in April, Ensemble members will meet every other Saturday morning to participate in masterclasses, scene studies, workshops and play readings. Grace Cannon is lead teaching artist for the program.

Butler said the WYO is looking forward to continuing the Ensemble over the next few years.
