Haworths named Chamber Business Persons of the Year

Paul and Christina Haworth, owners of Sackett’s Market, are the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Business Persons of the Year.

The honor was announced during the Chamber’s Awards of Excellence program Wednesday. Chamber President David Schwend explained the award.

Schwend said the two met while building boats in Florida. After traveling all over the world and owning several private businesses, the couple moved back to Wyoming in 2005 to purchase a meat processing facility in Riverton. They moved to Sheridan in 2009 and founded Sackett’s Market in 2010 with the goal of providing local back-to-basics quality foods.

Schwend said the Haworths bought a diamond-in-the-rough building on Burkitt Street in October 2019. They originally planned to do many of the renovations on their own, but when COVID-19 hit, the couple utilized people who had lost their jobs to help with the work.

Schwend said with the new location, the Haworths have been able to expand their product offerings, employ more staff and provide more services to the Sheridan area.

The Chamber of Commerce presented Awards of Excellence to individuals and businesses in four categories. Sheridan Media will have stories on other winners at a later time.
