Among questions answered by the finalists for superintendent of Sheridan County School District 2 this week was how, if chosen for the job, they would promote positive, trusting and healthy relationships between the superintendent’s office and the district’s staff.

The question was one of four posed during a community forum to Priscilla Hopkins, Teresa Rensch and Scott Stults.

Hopkins said trust is everything.

Hopkins said the adults that are supporting children also need to be supported.

Rensch said listening and learning would be important to her, including from parents, students, administration, community and business.

Stults, who’s been with School District 2 for over 20 years, said working in education isn’t easy.

Stults said students in District 2 are better because of what the district’s teachers and staff provide them every day that they’re in school. He said his job as superintendent is to support the staff and teachers in their work.

District 2 trustees met in executive session this week to discuss the merits of the three finalists for the superintendent’s position and select one of the three to offer the job. Trustees are hopeful they can announce the new superintendent at their regular meeting Monday.
