A Look Back in Time: Sept. 11, 1920

Now here’s Sheridan Media’s look back in time, to 100 years ago, by reporter Pat Blair as published in the Sheridan Enterprise newspaper on Sept. 11, 1920.

Sixteen riders made a flying start from the Burlington depot at 8:40 o’clock this morning for the 10-mile horse marathon race to Clearmont for the official start of Clearmont Day. Winner of the race will receive $375.

At their weekly luncheon yesterday, Sheridan Rotarians entertained one of the largest groups of visitors to this city in a number of weeks. Among the visitors were Masons en route home from the recent meetings held in Buffalo.

A total 1,865 pupils are enrolled in Sheridan schools at the end of the first week.
