Pat BlairWith games played twice at week, and the season not over until Aug. 22, there’s still time to watch some great polo action at the Flying H Ranch just outside Big Horn.
In a recent appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Will Johnston, a polo player who also helps run the Flying H Polo Club, said the club has had some unbelievable games so far this year.
The Flying H polo season for 2020 started on July 2 and Johnston said games are played on Thursdays and Saturdays each week. He said three games are played each day, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
The games are open to the public, and Johnston talked about what that looks like under this year’s COVID-19 restrictions.
Johnston said people can bring their own snacks and beverages, but there are also food vendors on site as well as facilities and an apparel shop.
He said the vehicles are spaced roughly 10 feet apart, so there’s plenty of room. The field, he said, is the equivalent of six football fields.
Johnston thinks the current COVID-19 situation, in which so many activities have been limited or eliminated, has made more people interested in checking out the polo games.
