Clearmont Council Discusses Well #3

The Clearmont Town Council held their regular meeting on Monday, April 21. Topics on the agenda included Water Well #3, which is still an on-going project.
Mayor Chris Schock talked about a public meeting to be held on June 30th at 6 p.m. to discuss what should be done with the well.
Clerk Kirstie Auzqui felt that community members should be informed via a letter as well as posting the meeting date. Schock agreed that Auzqui should add a letter in the upcoming water bills as well as posting the information. There was discussion on what had been done and other alternatives that the town has on the improving the well.
Also discussed were policies on past-due utility bills and hunting turkey with a bow and arrow within the town limits. Schock said the Access Yes program explains property hunters agree to letting hunters take turkeys from their property inside the city limits.
Councilman Kaelan Haring said that the town will allow hunting in the parks, near the lagoon, and other town owned properties.
Hunters can apply for two turkey hunting permits from the Game and Fish, and there is a spring and a fall turkey season. Hunters must have a current turkey license and obey all Game and Fish rules as well.

Mayor Schock reported on a the Wyo Business Council and a Harvard Growth Lab, which choose Clearmont to take part.
Also on the agenda was possibly raising the cost of the liquor license in Clearmont, and Councilwoman Anna Switzer, who owned Clear Creek Stop for many years, commented that if the town makes it too expensive, no one will want it.
The town had one applicant for a part-time employee for the summer.
The council also approved the resignation of Councilwoman Anna Switzer, who is moving out of Clearmont. Schock thanked Switzer for her time on the council.
There was a brief discussion on designing a community flag for the 250th Celebration of the United States which will be held in 2026. The council discussed appointing a business owner in Clearmont to the Sheridan County Travel and Tourism board to represent the Clearmont area.
Next meeting will be held on May 19 at 6 p.m.
