We The People Students Win in Washington

Sheridan High School “We the People” team returned from Washington, D.C. on April 13, and according to SHS social studies teacher Michael Thomas, the SHS Team Unit 1 won the unit award. “What does this mean? That out of 48 Unit 1’s from across the nation, our unit was the highest scoring unit in the country!” Thomas said.

The Unit 1 students are Rachel Keegan, Nicholas Matheney, and Lincoln Robbins.
We the People is a civic education program which helps student enhance their understanding of the United States government system. Thomas said they have 23 students this year participating in the We the People competitions.

In December of 2024, the team won the Wyoming State Championship, which qualified them for the national competition, which was held in Washington, DC April 9-11.
The team would like to thank everyone who helped them to achieve this win.
