Bighorn National Forest Officials Begin Opening Developed Recreation Sites
Beginning Wednesday, Bighorn National Forest officials will open developed recreation sites and increase public access to the following sites: Leigh Creek Campground; Ranger Creek Recreation Area (campground area), and Shell Creek Campground. For a full list of open areas and up-to-date information, you can visit the Bighorn National Forest website or one of their social media pages.
Forest Supervisor Andrew Johnson said that visitors should come with all of the essentials for a day trip, including food, emergency supplies, and resources to pack-out trash, and asked that people continue to follow the latest health guidance of staying at least six feet from others, and avoid gathering in large groups.
The Forest Service is asking visitors to recreate locally and responsibly, as this will help expand access to facilities, services and other opportunities. Not all services are yet available, as citizens should be prepared to pack out trash and human waste. Fire restrictions will also be lifted Wednesday.
