Dining for a Cause for Food Group a Great Success

Seeking to alleviate childhood hunger in Sheridan County by providing nourishment to children is the goal of the Food Group in Sheridan.
On Tuesday, March 4, the food group participated in “Dining for a Cause” at Frackelton’s Restaurant. The total raised for the Food Group was $121,387 with matching funds. The total raised at Frackelton’s last night was $16,887. 100% of all dinner and drinks proceeds goes to The Food Group.
Keri McMeans Executive Director, talked about the Food Group and what they do.
She said that the need to help hungry children often goes unnoticed, and that is why they exist. With the help of community partners and support they can address this need at a local level.

McMeans talked about Kim Love’s help and support of the Food Group and Dining for a Cause.
This is the first time the Food Group has been a part of Dining for a Cause since before the Covid lockdown.
Another partner of the Food Group is the Fifth Street Greenhouse, which is a part of SCSD#2. During the summer months the Fifth Street Greenhouse is still producing fresh greens. The Food Group helps to distribute this locally grown produce to families in the area.

Rev. Michael Evers of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church was helping at the event and talked about their participation in the Food Group.
He added that “I just love my town of Sheridan, Wyoming the people here are so generous and helpful and help people. I love it here.”
