The Johnson County School Board, during their last regular meeting, discussed a request from one of their members to attend the out-of-state LRP Institute’s Special Education Law Conference.

According to District Superintendent Charles Auzqui, board member Benito Maya was asked to attend the conference by district administration because he sits on the BOCES board, which oversees special education in the district.

According to lrpinstitute.com, the conference brings together the leading special education attorneys and educators to provide evidence-based best practices, case law and compliance guidance to help serve students with disabilities.

The board voted to approve Maya to attend the conference.
