Sheridan Community Land Trust Director of Conservation John Graves appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss conservation easements available through SCLT.
Graves is a local landowner. He owns and operates a bison ranch in Sheridan and understands the needs and concerns many local landowners have regarding conversation. His duties include much more than conservation as he also works with landowners to improve the land they own and love.

An SCLT conservation easement protects certain natural resources and scenic values of a property in perpetuity. These easements provide various benefits to landowners, future generations and the Sheridan community.
Some easement benefits for landowners may include tax incentives, continued opportunities for traditional ranching uses, and the peace of mind that treasured lands will be protected for generations to come.
Graves said he understands that conservation easements may not be the right choice for some landowners but SCLT would still assist in improving the land through other efforts such as riparian area improvements.
