Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter Cat Lead Sue Johnson and owner and operator of the Unleashed Foundation Marian Eccles made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss the senior animals that need a home.
The shelter operates the Senior Dog Project, connecting seniors in the Sheridan County community to senior dogs by assessing the desires of the senior citizen such as what size, breed and activity level.
This program provides food (as needed) and pet care supplies such as a collar, leash and food bowls. Follow-up can be arranged as needed by the shelter’s senior outreach coordinator. And to top it off there is an option for additional training if necessary.
Lately, the adoptions at the shelter have increased and many of the seniors have found good homes.
M. Eccles
Eccles said that if at any time a senior can not care for a dog, for any reason, the animal will always have a home at the shelter.
Funding for the Senior Dog Project is provided by the Irwin Wilson Family Foundation.
Veterinary services will be provided by the shelter’s in-house vet as needed and should an emergency situation arise, the shelter will assist with the costs of emergency care.
