Ron RichterThe Sheridan City Council, by a vote of 4 to 1, approved a resolution at their business meeting Monday night authorizing the submission of an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for a “Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity” planning grant for the West Corridor Expansion Project. City Public Works Director Hanns Mercer provided the details of the planning grant prior to the Council’s vote.
Mercer said the RAISE Planning Grant the City will apply for is in the amount of $1.52 million and would require a local match of 20 percent, totaling $380,000 that would be funded by GPET, Public Benefit and Capital Facilities Tax.
Mercer said the grant application will be submitted by the end of the month and the City should find out if they are awarded the grant in June.
Other business from the Council meeting included first reading approval of an ordinance to rezone property owned by Wyoming Downs at 927 Coffeen Avenue from B-1 to M-1. We’ll have more from the Council meeting in future stories.
