The Wyoming Game and Fish are informing the public of multiple hunter education classes that will be offered in Moorcroft, Wright, Sheridan and Gillette in coming weeks.

To see specific details about each class and to reserve a seat, visit wgfd.wyo.gov and click on the ‘education and camps’ link at the top of the page. Class size is limited with all registration done online on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to the Game and Fish, course topics include hunting ethics and responsibility, firearm safety, relevant Wyoming wildlife statutes and regulations, wildlife identification, game care and outdoor safety.

There is no minimum age restriction for participants, but course material is written at a fourth grade level. Students must participate in every session and pass a test at the end in order to earn their hunter education certificate.

Upcoming hunter education class locations and dates:

Moorcroft – Jan. 24-26

Sheridan – Feb. 24-March 1

Moorcroft – Feb. 28-March 2

Wright – March 7-9

Gillette – March 13-16

Two bowhunter education classes will also be offered in Moorcroft. These classes are for bowhunters of all skill levels interested in learning about bowhunting basics with interactive lectures, videos and hands-on learning. Bowhunter education certification is not required for archery hunting in Wyoming, but is accepted by other states that require bowhunter education.

These classes will be held as an extension of, and immediately following, the conclusion of the two traditional hunter education classes offered in Moorcroft. Students from those classes may stay and attend the bowhunter class. Others interested in attending who are not students in the traditional hunter education classes, may reserve a seat online through the education link at wgfd.wyo.gov. However, before attending the course, they must complete the online portion of the bowhunter education class and bring their certificate of completion to the class. The online course can be found by clicking here

Upcoming bowhunter education class locations and dates:
