While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Public Works Director Hans Mercer spoke on a project that will take place in one of the City’s oldest neighborhoods.
Design and analysis are currently in progress on Phase 1 of the project to be completed on South Main Street, West Whitney Street, and South Tschirigi Street.
The project will include a complete pavement reconstruction, adding driveway aprons, sidewalks, curb and gutter, ADA ramps, and utilities (water, sewer, and storm) while preserving the neighborhood’s historic charm.

According to the City, this is a multi-year and multi-phased project. Phase 1 of the project is currently in design and is anticipated to be bid on next month.
Public meetings regarding the project took place on Dec. 5, 2023 and Oct. 8, 2024 to receive input and feedback from the community. Public Works also met with residents of the area to discuss the project’s goals in Phase 1.
Phase 2 resident’s meeting will be scheduled for late summer to discuss the construction of 2026. A public meeting is anticipated to be held in April before Phase 1 begins to discuss any concerns the public may have regarding the project.

Kudos, for this project, way behind schedule, but while you’re at it, just maybe this Public Works Director could revamp the current maintenance schedule for our existing public streets, institute better repairs, with better materials, with better workmanship, and start utilizing our tax money for the better. I’ve traveled all over the country, and have observed quality street maintenance, and this City isn’t even in the conversation. Put a nail in it, it’s good enough, isn’t a responsible use of the Citizens of Sheridan Wyoming’s tax monies. Jussayin.
