cvannoyOn Tuesday, December 10, 2024, The Ramaco Foundation presented a check for $25,000 to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Randy Atkins, Ramaco Resources Chairman and CEO, presented the check to Mo Hickey, the Toys for Tots Sheridan Chapter Coordinator with several retired Marines from the Sheridan community in attendance.
Randy Atkins stated, “The Ramaco Foundation is proud of its multi-year legacy in supporting the Toys for Tots Program both in Sheridan and also back in the mining areas of Southern West Virginia. We recognize the importance of supporting all members of communities in which we serve and especially our youth. Through this donation, we want in our own small way to help ensure that every child will have presents to open this Christmas season. For us our gift is in the giving.”
Since 2014, the Ramaco Foundation has generously supported the Toys for Tots program in their efforts to provide toys to disadvantaged children in Sheridan and the surrounding communities. Ramaco is honored to support local charities that are results-driven and have proven records of success, partnering with them and expanding their valuable work. Beyond the Toys for Tots program, Ramaco supports charities that fight childhood hunger, local rescue and firefighters, youth career development programs, and much more. The Ramaco Foundation is dedicated to building meaningful philanthropic relationships in the regions where Ramaco operates and in strengthening the local social and economic fabric.
Since its inception in 1947, Toys for Tots has distributed 677 million toys to 301 million deserving children. Toys for Tots receive an ever-increasing number of requests from parents who are struggling to make financial ends meet. Every donation from supporters will ensure that request from families in need will be filled this Christmas by providing toys, books, and other gifts to underprivileged children, ensuring they experience the magic of the holiday season.
Mo Hickey, the Sheridan Chapter Lead Coordinator, said, “Since I joined the local chapter eighteen years ago, we have increased the number of children who received toys from 300 to over 3,000! I’d also like to note that nationwide, the program coordinators and volunteers are not paid and 97% of every donation goes directly to providing toys to children.”
The Chapter coordinator also added, “This very generous annual donation from The Ramaco Foundation significantly enhances our ability to reach even more children and families throughout the Sheridan area. And because of Ramaco, we are able to expand our reach to serve our disadvantaged neighbors in nearby Montana, to support the First Nation tribes of the Northern Cheyenne and the Crow Nation, the cities of Wyola and Hardin, MT, as well as south of us in Johnson County.”
The Sheridan Chapter could still use assistance this year before Christmas. For more information about the Sheridan Marine Toys for Tots Program or if you are interested in helping, please contact the Sheridan Chapter directly at (307) 762-6008.
