A change of plea hearing was held recently in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a man charged with multiple crimes. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

Plea Change

On November 5, 44-year-old Rudolph Demontiney was arrested for allegedly stealing items from Home Depot and Shipton’s Big R in Sheridan. He was charged with one count of felony theft and one count of misdemeanor theft. The felony charge is the result of Demontiney stealing over $2,500 in merchandise from Home Depot. At a hearing in District Court, Demontiney , pursuant to the terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, pleaded guilty to the felony theft charge. In exchange for his guilty plea, the prosecution dismissed the misdemeanor charge.

The plea agreement recommends a 3 to 5 year prison sentence. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by the Department of Corrections division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for February 13 at 9 am. Demontiney’s bond was revoked and he was remanded to the custody of the Sheridan County Detention Center pending sentencing.
