cvannoyAt the Monday, December 2 SCSD#2 Board of Trustees meeting, Alex Mock, executive director of the Sheridan Recreation District talked about who they are and what they offer the Sheridan Community.
He said they are going on their 51st year in Sheridan, having been incorporated on April 1, 1974.
He added that he wanted to clarify the Sheridan Recreation District’s relationship with SCSD#2.
He said that they receive funding from the rec mill which is approved by the SCSD#2 board, and they receive funds from the city by maintaining the spaces that they use for the rec district activities.
He added they work collaboratively with the city and the school district, and their board includes representatives from both SCSD#2 and the City of Sheridan.
They provide recreation programs for both adults and youth from ages 3 up to 15 years. They offer group and individual sports.
They also offer outdoor recreation activities, saying they just started Day Camps last year, and he said thanks to the Bridges property for letting utilize that property. He added they want to keep providing opportunities for the community.
