Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize is alerting the media that following the rainfall and snow last week, fire conditions in the region have improved significantly. As a result, officials have reassessed and updated the evacuation statuses for several areas. Fire behavior continues to be closely monitored, and evacuation levels will be adjusted as necessary.
Effective immediately, the following areas that were previously under “Set” or “Go” evacuation orders have been downgraded to a Ready Status:
• The area west of Slack Road and East Pass Creek Road at the intersection of Pass Creek Road to the Forest Service Boundary and to the Montana State Line. (Note: Everything east of this area that was in a Ready Status is now in a No Status.)
• The area along Tongue Canyon Road, west from Dayton to the Forest Service Boundary.
• The area southwest along Amsden Road to the Forest Service Boundary.
• The areas west of Beckton Road from Dayton to the intersection of Big Goose Road to the Forest Service Boundary. (Note: Everything east of this area that was in a Ready Status is now in a No Status.)
• The areas west of Rapid Creek Road to the Forest Service Boundary. (Note: Everything east of this area that was in a Ready Status is now in a No Status.)
• The Rapid Creek, Red Grade area, including the area west of Bear Gulch Trail to Bear Gulch Road, extending southeasterly to Hidden Valley Road and continuing south to the U.S. Forest Service boundary. This encompasses all cabins within the Teepee Cabin group, Black Tooth Cabin Association, homes on Lower Hideaway Lane, Red Poll Lane, Upper Hideaway Lane, as well as Stumpy Ridge, Helsberg, and Folley Ranch. Cabins along FSR 296 are also included. (Note: Everything northeast of this area that was in Ready Status is now in a No Status.)
• The intersection of Hidden Valley Road and Highway 335 continuing east to the intersection of Brinton Road, then southeasterly along the foothills to Kemp Creek and south to the U.S. Forest Service boundary.
Any area that was previously under a “Ready” evacuation order has now been reduced to No Status.
Road Closures – No Changes
The following roads remain closed to the public. Only fire crews and local residents will be allowed access:
• All of Pass Creek Road to the Wyoming/Montana State Line
• Slack Road at the Wyoming/Montana State Line
• Little Horn Canyon Road
• Twin Creek Road at the Parkman Access
• Smith Creek Road
• Tongue Canyon Road
• Beckton Road from the intersection of Big Goose Road to the intersection of Soldier Creek Road
• Big Goose Road from the intersection of Big Goose Road and Beckton Road
• Rapid Creek Road
• Beckton Hall Road
• Big Horn Road
• Little Goose Canyon Road
In addition, hard closures are in effect for the following Sheridan County roads. Only fire personnel are allowed access:
• All of Red Grade Road
Highway 14 remains closed between Burgess Junction and Dayton.
