The Johnson County Historical Society will give a presentation on Sacajawea Monday night, October 21, at the Johnson County Library in Buffalo.

According to a release from the historical society, Sacajawea, a Native American Shoshone woman, was a prominent figure in Lewis and Clark’s Corp of Discovery expedition to the Pacific Ocean, that explored the newly-acquired lands of the Louisiana Purchase by President Thomas Jefferson.

Ira Roadifer is a member of the Clearmont Historical Group who researches Wyoming history and enjoys visiting historical sites. He has helped publish 10 books with the group and helped with the Heritage Book, Backward Glance.

He will give the presentation, taking those attending along Lewis and Clark’s path, sharing stories of the journey and discussing what happened to Sacajawea after the expedition, including where she is likely buried.

The presentation will be offered Monday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Twing Room at the Johnson County Library in Buffalo.

The presentation is free and the public is welcome to attend.
