State Auditor, Superintendent, Push for Right to Constitutional Carry of Firearms at Capitol

Wyoming State Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder and State Auditor Kristi Racines brought forth an amendment to the State Building Commission to propose a change to the draft rules under consideration. The proposed change would amend the rules to allow for concealed carry of firearms by all citizens on state property, regardless of whether they have a permit, in areas of the State Capitol, which the State Building Commission has oversight.
The amendment was approved by the SBC and the rules will now go out for a 45-day public comment period. A joint media release from Racines and Degenfelder, states that they will now pursue the next step in the process, which is a repeal or legislative override of a 2001 Executive Order prohibiting executive branch employees and officials from carrying deadly weapons on state premises and changing rules for state office buildings.
