Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon has alerted the community to a resource page organized to assist residents who have suffered losses from this year’s wildfires.

Gordon said the fire season has been extremely difficult for the entire Cowboy State this year and the recent fires in Johnson and Sheridan Counties have had a personal impact on the Governor and his family, who are from the area.

Recently Gorden reached out to those affected by the fires wishing to ensure they are made aware of the resource page that will help lead residents to resources and critical information as many begin to piece lives and livelihoods back together.

A producer and former Wyoming State Treasurer, Gordon suggested Sheridan Johnson County producers and residents create itemized lists of losses which will ease the process of dealing with insurance and assistance resource providers.

The Elk Fire is under the management of Rocky Mountain Area Complex Incident Management Team 3 Incident Commander Casey Cheesbrough with 829 personnel under his command. The most recent information reads the fire has reached almost 75,000 acres. But the team had managed to contain 10% of the fire.

Governor Gordon told Sheridan Media’s Bob Grammens the help from the team and the air power is appreciated as this blaze has stretched local resources.
