Juror scam returns to SC

Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Devereaux Johnson made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to alert the public to a scamming technique that has returned to the county.

Johnson said there is a red flag residents can instantly identify that will alert them to the scam as opposed to a legitimate call from law enforcement.

By hanging up the phone and calling the Sheridan County Sheriff or the Sheridan Police Department and notifying those agencies that you have received a call such as the call described by Johnson, the public will be put in contact with the proper officials to handle any real juror situation. 

If the notification was a scam, an officer or deputy may ask a few questions regarding the call to learn as much information as possible.
