Museum at the Bighorns Director of Museum Operations Chip King said the relocation of Sheridan’s museum is on schedule.

In November of 2023, The Museum at the Bighorns announced plans to relocate to the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main Str., in downtown Sheridan.

Since that time, staff and volunteers have spent months in the process of inventorying the collections and preparing the collection for the move, which numbers more than 30,000 objects.

King told listeners of Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse that the Museum would like to have something ready to present to the public by the Christmas Stroll.

King and the board have been discussing exhibits and how the new location will be laid out. With the talents of those involved, King said they are dreaming big when it comes to presentation and exhibit interaction at the new location.

Although a lot of work remains, the museum is planning a opening in the Spring of 2025.
