There are two new exhibits at the Clearmont Historical Center during the month of September.

Dave Nicolarsen and Sheridan College Foundation shared the information and display items from the George C. Frison Bison Jump excavation of 1964. The Piney Creek Bison Jump site is located north of Lake DeSmet, and was radiocarbon dated at A.D. 1580 to A.C. 1610. Large groups of Native Americans came together for these hunts so they could quickly gather a large amount of food and buffalo robes for the winter.

The display includes buffalo skulls and bones, spear and arrow points, tools for butchering, and weapons that would have been used at the time.

Jennifer Golden, of the Golden Needle store in Sheridan, is the featured artist for the month of September. She has a variety of items on display, including quilts which have been featured in two Quilt Art Engagement Calendars.

Most of the items are for sale, and one can contact Golden for more information on the price. Her business specializing in sewing, alterations and tailoring.

Drop by the Clearmont Historical Center at 1250 Front Street all month on Friday and Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information contact the Center at (307) 758-4685 or email clearmonthistoricalgroup.com
