Spanish Influenza, Oct. 14, 1918

Sheridan Media reporter Pat Blair looks back in time, over 100 years ago, to the impact of Spanish influenza as reported in the pages of the Sheridan Enterprise in 1918.

Champion & Shannon received a telegram today, Oct. 14, from Mrs. Roy Adsit at El Paso, Texas, stating that her husband died last Saturday night of the Spanish influenza. His body will be shipped to Sheridan for burial.

Gillette was quarantined today as a precautionary measure against the prevailing epidemic of Spanish influenza. Similar action has been taken by health officials against the towns of Buffalo and Newcastle.

The City Cleaning and Dyeing Company will be closed until after the funeral of C. O. Rucker, who owned the business. Mr. Rucker died yesterday of the Spanish influenza.
