Museum at the Bighorns Director of Museum Operations Chip King made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to give an update on the museum’s relocation.

In November of 2023, the Museum at the Bighorns announced plans to relocate to the historic Woolworth building at 171 North Main Str., in downtown Sheridan.

Since that time, staff and volunteers have spent months in the process of inventorying the collections and preparing the collection for the move, which number more than 30,000 objects.

With such sensitive and rare items, a proper boxing and storage process must be followed to preserve Sheridan’s history. King told listeners that most of the items are ready to be relocated.

With the items packed up and ready to go, King said he and the rest of the staff and volunteers are ready to get the items into their new permanent location.

Plans include construction of exhibits focused on lots of hands-on and interactive elements.
