Sheridan Man Changes Plea in Felony Theft Case

A 27-year-old Sheridan man changed his plea on a Felony Theft charge at a Fourth Judicial District Court hearing Thursday. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
Last September, 27-year-old Michael Dykhorst was arrested and charged with Felony Theft for allegedly altering gift card amounts and using the gift cards to purchase over $1,600 in alcohol from Killy’s Liquor in Sheridan. A former employee of the liquor store, Dykhorst, asked a third party to purchase the liquor for him with the altered cards and also attempted to set up a fake wedding catering contract, which he ultimately cancelled.
During a virtual hearing in District Court in Sheridan Thursday, Dykhorst pleaded “guilty” to the theft charge. The change of plea was not made pursuant to a plea agreement with the State. District Court Judge John Fenn ordered that a presentence investigation be completed and set the date for sentencing for June 18 at 9 am. The crime of Felony Theft is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Kudos to the Boyd’s. Hopefully anyone who believed the crap said when the guilty party was fired will be a little slower to jump to conclusions in the future
