A skilled nursing facility on Sheridan’s northwest side will have new management.
At a special meeting of the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees held on Monday, May 6th, the board voted to enter into a Management Services Agreement with Green House Living.
Spokespersons for both the Hospital and Green House say ever since the start of the COVID pandemic, Green House has seen a change in the workforce, and that it has become a competitive environment in terms of pay.
When that fact was combined with the challenging nature of long term care, it created financial instability for Green House.
Hospital CEO Mike McCafferty says under the Management Services Agreement, the hospital would provide overhead, as well as care for the elderly at Green House in a sustainable way, and evaluate ways to break even financially.
“We would be working under the license of Alternative Elder Living, which is the oversight board for Green House. We work under their long term care license and we will be applying for our own long term care license, at which time we would have a different agreement with AEL, so currently we would be doing a management services agreement to provide the services that the elders need, and in the long term we would then run our own long term care facility under a different license.”
McCafferty adds he estimates it could take up to 9 months to get that license.

This could be a good thing for the elders. We’ve been worried about them.
