A special work night is planned for this week for one of Sheridan’s popular trails. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

In an effort to prepare the Hidden Hoot Trail for the season, the Sheridan Community Land Trust is inviting community members to volunteer a few hours of their time Wednesday night. The Hidden Hoot Trail Pizza Work Night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. According to information from the Land Trust, volunteers will use hand tools to smooth over hoof prints and make repairs as needed. The work will be aided by a new two-wheel tractor donated by a friend of SCLT to help with trail maintenance.

Volunteers should bring gloves, sunglasses/eye protection, sturdy shoes/boots, water, snacks, and your bike, running shoes, or hiking boots to enjoy the trail afterward. If possible, the Land Trust asks that you bring square shovels, hard-tooth rakes, pick mattocks, and McLeods. SCLT will provide tools, instruction, plenty of pizza, and extra beverages. Those interested in helping out are asked to meet at Black Tooth Park shortly before 5:30.

Come for what you can or stay for the whole evening. The more hands, the merrier. You can RSVP for the work night by clicking here.
