Ron RichterHearings were held this week in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for two upcoming jury trials. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
A four-day jury trial that was scheduled to begin on Monday, May 6 for Michael Shreeve of Sheridan has been moved to Monday, May 20. A motion to continue the trial was granted by the Court due to a temporary medical condition that Shreeve’s public defender is dealing with. At an arraignment hearing on December 12, 2023, Shreeve pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexual assault in the first degree. The alleged crimes occurred July 1 and July 2 of 2023 at a residence in Sheridan County. Each count of sexual assault in the first degree is punishable by not less than five and not more than 50 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
A pretrial conference was held this week in District Court for Mitchell Wiley of Sheridan. Wiley’s case is scheduled to go to trial Monday, May 6 and 50 potential jurors will be brought in for the jury selection process. The trial is expected to last three to four days. At a hearing on January 16, Wiley pleaded not guilty to three felony charges that included strangulation of a household member, domestic battery and aggravated assault and battery. The alleged crimes occurred on November 17, 2023 in Sheridan County. If convicted, Wiley faces up to 30 years in prison and fines of up to $30,000.
