Aaron PalmerJohnson County’s Commissioners have approved and accepted a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between themselves, the Jim Gatchell Museum (JGMM), and the Gatchell Museum Association (GMA).
The MOU, which had already been signed by representatives of both entities, specifies how the GMA will distribute funds to the museum raised through its various fundraising activities, as well as the amount to be be distributed, which has been at the heart of differences between the two entities.
County Attorney Tucker Ruby, who has spearheaded the negotiations between the museum and the association, said the agreement has been roughly two and a half years in the making.
He explained the MOU to the commission during their last meeting.
Ruby said the GMA will primarily be responsible for fundraising and will still continue their fundraising efforts to increase support for the museum and to continue to grow the museum’s endowment.
The commission voted to allow Chairman Bill Novotny to sign the MOU.
