Buffalo Council OKs Wells Project Funding Shortfall

The Buffalo City Council has voted to fund a shortfall in funding to complete the Buffalo Wells Project.
According to City Works Director Kevin Silbernagel, delays in the project have created a roughly $1.2 million funding shortfall.
He asked the council what they wanted to do during their last regular meeting.
Originally the city received $1.2 million in state water development funds with the city kicking in about $600,000 for the local funding match at the beginning of the project.
The project was to drill wells and build a pipeline to tie into the city’s water treatment plant for a backup water supply for city residents should there ever be a problem with Tie Hack Reservoir, the city’s main water source.
The council voted to move forward to complete the project and also to pay the $1.2 million shortfall from the city’s Capital Reserve Funds.
